BVB CHAMPIONS

HARVEY HORN

professional boxer

What are your interests?

My interests are most sports, mainly swimming, boxing and football. And as you’ll be able to tell from my social media, I love exploring in different countries!

Can you tell us what you like about the BVB?

What drew me to BVB was that being out of the east end, I love that retro/classic style and I think the BVB range has captured that old school essence but also has a modern touch that makes for easy wearing in any situation. What also drew me to the BVB brand is that they are not just clothing designers, but real boxing fans and I think you can see that in the details; from the badges that represent a fellow eastender the Aldgate Sphinx Ted Lewis, to the range dedicated to British legend Henry Cooper.

To what an extent does exercise play a role in your life?

Exercise/Boxing has played a massive part of my life since I was 6. From my first sports days at school to boxing at world level for my country, I’ve always had the same sense of ‘this is where I’m supposed to be’. Like most boxers I think my life could of ended up in a very different place had I not been involved in boxing.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote to share with our people?

My favourite inspirational quote is not one that a lot of people would consider ‘inspirational’; ‘If you’re not first, you’re last’. In boxing it couldn’t be more true and I think the fact it is my favourite quote shows just how competitive I am!

What are your interests?

My interests are sports, travel, investing, start-ups, movies, history and current affairs.

Can you tell us what you like about the BVB?

The authenticity of the brand and simplicity of the message behind it… I like to think of myself as knowledgeable about the history of boxing… it’s origins, evolution and the meaning (beyond boxing) that certain fights have carried throughout history. BVB represents a nod to that history and to the birthplace of modern ‘prize-fighting’…Britain

What draws you to boxing?

I have always been drawn to the discipline behind boxing… both the physical and mental aspect. Also to the notion of aggression as an expression of skill or art as opposed to violence. Every move in boxing is high in intensity so necessitates proper training, technique and the ability to control aggression whilst thinking about how to deploy it.

To what an extent does exercise play a role in your life?

A huge part, it helps me to focus and balance out other parts of my life. There are elements of escapism and achievement that I find essential to my day-to-day routines.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote to share with our people?

I have 2 : “I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan / “Be yourself… everyone else is already taken” – Oscar Wilde

What are your interests?

My interests are boxing, music, film and travel.

Can you tell us what you like about the BVB?

I love the heritage angle that embraces classic British boxing and mixes that with modern tailoring and updated cuts.
A great meeting of old and new!

The quality is fantastic and the clothes are ridiculously comfortable.

What draws you to boxing?

Boxing for me has always captured both my imagination and attention since I was a kid. There’s nothing more exhilarating and exciting than two people trying to overcome each other whether it’s by skill, brute force, sheer willpower or a combination of all of them. The underdog vs the Champion, the boxer vs the puncher, the defensive master vs the offensive marauder.
It’s surely the sport that more movies have been made about than any other-such is the enduring appeal of Boxing.

To what an extent does exercise play a role in your life?

Well, apart from my actual job, exercise is my life! The gym is where I go to have fun, more than just routine, I actually can’t wait to get there every morning.

Also, some of the best people I know I’ve met in the gym.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote to share with our people?

For inspirational quotes you can’t go far wrong with the wisdom of Cus D’amato...

“You must understand fear so you can manipulate it. Fear is like fire. You can make it work for you; it can warm you in the winter, cook your food when you’re hungry, give you light when you’re in the dark and produce energy. Let it go out of control and it can hurt you, even kill you...fear is a friend of exceptional

people.”

“The hero and the coward both feel the same thing, but the hero uses his fear, projects it onto his opponent, while the coward runs. It’s the same thing, fear, but it’s what you do with it that matters.”

“Losers are winners who quit, even if you lose, you still win if you don’t quit.”
